For the first time in its 170-year history, cannabis is on sale legally at the California State Fair. This is the first state in the country to allow cannabis for sale and consumption.

The consumption lounge is further away from the actual State Fair rides and exhibits. A fence is around the facility and only those 21 and older are allowed through. Visitors are not allowed to bring in their own cannabis, but several California-based dispensaries are on-site and able to sell their products.

The on-site dispensary and consumption lounge aren’t the only new additions to the California State Fair cannabis experience. The Cal Canna Awards, the country’s first state-sanctioned weed contest, is spreading its wings. Now in its third year, the contest has expanded to include not just flower, but wellness, edibles, drinks, concentrates, vapes, and pre-rolls.

In exciting news, our very own Pacific Reserve Nursery Rank Rose was named a Gold Medal winner!

Having cannabis alongside other local crops, folk art, and funnel cake stands is a big step forward in terms of normalization. The fact that the historic first is taking place in California is lost on no one; the Golden State has long been an epicenter of weed culture.
