With the recent legalization of marijuana in New York State, universities all over the state have begun to develop cannabis and hemp education programs. Cornell has already been in the game, having started teaching Cannabis classes after the 2018 Farm bill, but they have never had a full program. Now Cornell has created a one-year intensive program titled the Hemp Master of Professional Studies.

The program looks to place students in competitive internships within the industry and has standard class sizes of around 30 people.

One of the critical classes within the program is called “Cannabis: Biology, Society and Industry.” The course provides an overview that gives students the opportunity to meet cannabis professionals involved in breeding, production, processing, medical cannabis, business ownership, and more.
