The number of people planning to use cannabis for holiday celebrations has increased, showing a sustaining trend year over year. When asked, “Do you plan to use cannabis as part of your holiday celebrations this year?” 92% of cannabis users said yes, a 1% increase from last year. Federal legalization also plays a role in cannabis gift giving, as 88% of respondents
stated they would be more likely to purchase cannabis as holiday gifts if it was federally legal. Despite federal legalization, 75% of respondents said they planned to give cannabis-related gifts.
This year marks two years in a row that the poll has shown cannabis consumers consume less alcohol year-over-year. When asked, “how has cannabis impacted your consumption of alcohol,”29% stated that with cannabis, they are drinking less, a 6% increase from 2021. The number of people reducing/eliminating alcohol use due to cannabis saw a 12% increase year-over-year.21%of respondents have reported stopping consuming alcohol altogether.
