With the conclusion of the midterm elections, marijuana has become legalized in two new states – Maryland and Missouri.
Even in states that didn’t pass, marijuana legislation saw support consistently over 40% showcasing the growing support for legalization nationwide. Marijuana ballot initiatives have now been responsible for legalized adult-use cannabis in 14 of the 21 states that permit it, serving as a workaround for more conservative-led state governments.
Decriminalization of marijuana has also been passed in 5 Ohio and 5 Texas cities.
The midterm elections indicate a promising future for marijuana in the United States, with more legislation and reforms to be introduced during the lame-duck period.
