A recent study from the University of Colorado Boulder has found that marijuana enhances the running experience. After taking cannabis, participants found that running became more enjoyable and led to reduced post-run pain.

The participants experienced “less negative affect, greater feelings of positive affect, tranquility, enjoyment, and dissociation, and more runner’s high symptoms during their cannabis (vs. non-cannabis) runs. They also reported lower pain levels after their cannabis (vs. non-cannabis) run”.

These results are consistent with three previous cannabis studies:

  • 2019: Using marijuana to enhance workout routines has been linked to increased physical activity.
  • 2020: Senior citizens who use cannabis are more inclined to participate in physical activities.
  • 2021: Frequent marijuana consumers are actually more likely to be physically active compared to their non-using counterparts.
