A week after midterm elections that saw two more states legalize cannabis for adult use, Gallup’s latest survey proves that public support has held firm. 68% of Americans agree that marijuana should be legal, while only 31% said it should remain prohibited.
Gallup first started surveying in 1969, when only 12% of Americans were in favor. Support has grown, reaching 31% in 2000 and surpassing the majority level in 2013. Starting in 2016, at least six in 10 have been in favor.
