A Pew Research survey found that an “overwhelming share of U.S. adults” (89%) feel that cannabis should be legal for medical or recreational purposes. Among those, 59% say it should be legal, and 30% want to allow medical use. Only 10% of Americans thought that Marijuana should be completely illegal.

Gallup recently released a survey finding that 68%of Americans support marijuana legalization, but the poll didn’t provide respondents with different policy options on medical or recreational use. In August, Gallup released data that found more than 2x as many Americans think cannabis has a positive impact on its consumers and society at large than say the same about alcohol.
