As pre-rolls continue to dominate the cannabis market, researchers are now focusing on the logistics involved in the rolling process.
Scientists at Delic Labs, a Vancouver-based research facility, recently experimented to discover how the size of the ground-up cannabis flower affects a consumer’s experience.
They tested marijuana broken up into one, three, and five-mm diameter grounds. Three grams were then packed into commercially available pre-rolled paper and artificially smoked using a “smoke cycle simulator.”
Results from the experiment:
- 1mm cannabis grounds produced the most potent hit, with the highest levels of cannabinoids like THC and CBD.
- At 1mm cannabis diameter, the joints made an average of 0.67mg of THC per hit.
- The 5mm joints had a 0.51mg THC puff average
- 5-mm particle size led to longer-lasting joints regardless of flower used
The experiment challenges the bias of buying joints only based on THC concentration. The result proved that the size of the ground-up cannabis matter is another crucial factor to consider when purchasing pre-rolls and making pre-rolls.
With this newly discovered information, you can now tell the friend that grinds their weed down to dust that the amount of twists and turns on the grinder matters.
